Biography

Sally Grumbridge

Born in Kuwait 1952

Lives & works in London

Personal experience, cultural or historical subjects often for the basis for my art. My work is diverse and I love experimenting with styles and techniques. Colour is one of my main driving forces and for some paintings I purposely use a limited palette.  Often I use life studies or photography as a starting point and, by distorting or deconstructing the images, I try to create an interesting ambiguity in the final piece. When painting, I work mainly in oils but often incorporate mixed media into my work. In recent years, I have been doing more and more printmaking, mainly working in itaglio and relief processes and concentrating on using non-toxic mediums. As well as making art for exhbition, I teach printmaking at Kite Studios in West London and run art workshops as a volunteer for Crisis.
