Kate Noakes

Kate’s middle daughter did not take breath, living for just four short months some twenty years ago. Kate has made a series of works in her memory using imagery of the moon and spirals: the moon for its mythological association with menstruation, and spirals as they are ancient symbols of fertility in many cultures across the globe from the Celts to Native Americans. Her intaglio prints are pulled from plates of impressed gesso. Her relief prints are from photographs laser printed in a glow-forge. Some prints are finished with leaf metal gilding. Kate started printmaking in September 2018 at Kite Studios. Her other creative work is as a writer of non-fiction, and poetry.
